NT Texts

We (ACI) believe the ENTIRE New Testament—actually a collection of relatively short books and letters—that form the primary literary context(s) by which we come to understand what our life in Christ means and looks like.  That’s where we begin.

We wish to mine certain passages of Scripture in order to grasp as best we can what spiritual formation (or reaching maturity in Christ) means; and, just as important, clues as to how that is to be done.

Our choice of these particular passages WITHIN the NT is our best attempt to bring to your attention some of what we think are the more salient points. It’s designed ONLY to be a place to start.

We also believe the OT is critical for a full-orbed understanding of spiritual formation from the Bible, but that will be discussed elsewhere on this site, at a later date.

We will share the NT passages on this site both in English translation and also in Greek (koine) for those who wish to dig deeper and have the language skills to do so.  That is, it is up to you to mine these passages to better understand the nature and practice of spiritual formation and we think that can be very helpfully accomplished in a group situation.
